So I went to the X Games this weekend on real short notice with my friend Patrick. It was cool because I've never been to one of these and seeing the boarders right in front of you pulling of tricks is pretty impressive.
We were staying with the YWAM Boarders DTS and had a chance to meet Kelly Clark, an amercian woman's gold medalist, she is one of the only Christian pro riders who makes a big impact with her lifestyle and social views within the snow boarding community.
The other interesting thing was a media group that was filming a documentary on the YWAM team up there about what they are doing and how their outreaches are impacting the
So this past Sunday was quite obscure. Those 2 shootings in Colorado happened at 2 places that I go / went to. They are also places where my close friends and family attend / staff.
I never met the dude M. Murray, but apparently he was doing his DTS right after me and attended my schools graduation. One of my close friends lives 100 yds away from the building and I'm grateful he wasn't shot.
My brother in law is also unpaid staff at New Life Church who left early that day to get lunch. I'm so glad that he wasn't hurt either and that the gunman didn't get a chance to use all of his 1,000 rounds of ammo on the thousands of people that attend
I've been thinking a lot lately about what happened with Tanner Morrow (well he just disappeared really ... probably pist-off and confused) along with the outburst on Scott Hansen's blog (ISO50).
Honestly it was a great read for myself being able to relate pretty well. And Scott said it best, "But this is a common thing with young designers. Sometimes you emulate the style of someone else to learn and along the way you find your own path and in the end you have your own personal style."
